Dr. Hollowell has served in several capacities during her eighteen-year educational career. Her professional career, however, did not start in education. After earning her Associate of Arts degree in Police Science from Fullerton College, Dr. Hollowell went on to attend Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, where she double majored in history and political science and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dr. Hollowell has been a residential counselor, transition manager, and the hiring and training manager of a 156-bed group home. Immediately prior to becoming a full-time teacher, Dr. Hollowell worked as an Avon District Sales Manager. FINALLY, recognizing that her true calling was to be an educator, she enrolled at and received her teaching credential from California State University, Fullerton. Later, Dr. Hollowell went on to receive her Master of Arts degree in History from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and her Doctorate of Education degree from Brandman University (part of the Chapman University System) in Organizational Leadership where her dissertation focused on Culturally Responsive School Leadership. She began her teaching career as a History-Social Science teacher at John W. North High School (JWNHS). While at JWNHS, Dr. Hollowell served in numerous roles including Mock Trial teacher coach, BSU mentor coordinator, Attendance TOSA, AVID Site Team members, and co-department chair. Dr. Hollowell taught a variety of courses including AP U.S. History for 11 years, U.S. History in both the Education and Human Services and the Global Business and Information Technology Academies, AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, World History, and 10th - and 11th-grade AVID Elective classes - to name a few. For the past two years, she has proudly and wholly served the staff, students, and families as the Assistant Principal at Sierra Middle School. Dr. Hollowell currently serves as a dissertation committee member and adjunct faculty at the University of Massachusetts Global and as an adjunct professor at California Baptist University. Dr. Hollowell and her husband, Eric, are parents to three adult children and grandparents to one precious little boy. She is extremely excited to join the Martin Luther High School family! |
